Lotus Berthelotii
£1.20
Known as the 'Parrot's Beak' due to the shape of the bright red flower, lotus plants are trailing or ground covering evergreen sub shrubs. They produce rich orangey-red flowers on silver-grey foliage in spring and early summer. A great plant for early colour.
Please note that this genus usually needs a cooling period over winter in order to flower in the summer. If they survive through winter after the first year planting, they will therefore usually flower in the second year.
In its native habitat on the Canary Islands it is a critically endangered plant. Attractive to honeybees.
